Choose the Decorative Effect Before the Finished Construction
Decorative glass describes an appearance category rather than one glass treatment. Start with the effect you want: a surface texture, a coloured appearance or a printed ceramic pattern. Then identify the base glass, finished construction and application requirements.
Patterned and Textured Glass
For ribbed, reeded, fluted and other textured options, provide a photograph or physical reference and indicate the texture direction. Pattern names vary between sources; approve the actual sample rather than relying on a shared name. Availability and processing depend on the selected pattern.

Ceramic Printed and Fritted Glass
Printed architectural panels need an agreed pattern, colour, coverage and orientation. Specify the print surface and how it sits within the finished glass construction. The ceramic fritted glass guide covers artwork and appearance approval separately from textured glass selection.

Keep the Sample and Panel Schedule Together
Identify the approved sample or reference with each panel mark. Include the viewing side, texture or pattern direction, finished dimensions, quantities, edge details and any holes. Review appearance in the proposed construction before confirming the batch. Screen photographs are references, not a guaranteed colour or privacy match.
Review Safety and Processing for the Selected Glass
A decorative finish does not by itself establish safety performance or suitability for a particular application. Specify any required tempering, lamination or insulated construction, and request review for that exact glass and pattern. Confirm the document scope for the proposed order.
Send a Decorative Glass Project Enquiry
Send the finish reference, intended use, required glass construction, dimensions and quantity, plus the delivery destination. If the pattern is not final, identify the appearance priorities so that sample options can be reviewed. State requested fittings separately from the glass order.
Project questions
Is decorative glass the same as patterned glass?
Patterned glass is one part of the wider decorative glass category. This overview helps choose a finish route; the patterned glass page covers surface texture, direction and sample matching.
Can one decorative sample be used for every glass construction?
Processing and appearance must be reviewed for the selected material and construction. Do not assume that every pattern can be tempered, laminated or used in an IGU in the same way.
